You must own a legal copy of ArmA III and have no BattlEye global bans to play on our game server.
A global ban is issued by the third party anti-cheat software BattlEye. No one associated with Our Life RPG can overturn a global ban nor can we appeal such a thing on your behalf. If you believe you have been banned in error, please visit the BattlEye Support website.
You must have a working microphone to play on the server.
Punishments for rule violations can range from a warning or a ban from one or all of our services here at OurLifeRPG. Past infractions are kept noted of via warning points on the forums, more information about that can be found at the bottom of this page.
You are only to go to requesting support if you need help and you have sufficient evidence, I.E. screenshots/video. Please do not bring any minor issues immediately to support, attempt to resolve them in game through roleplay.
Always use common sense in situations and use better judgment on whether or not your current situation could be handled in roleplay, or if a staff member may be required to assist you. If you are ever unsure about anything, contact a staff member.
Staff member's decisions on a situation are final. They know the rules and are there to enforce them. If a staff member requests you to do something, follow their orders. Lying to any staff will result in a ban. If you disagree with a staff members decision you may contact Senior Staff.
While heated arguments are okay, disrespect is not tolerated. Also, roleplay disrespect can only be taken so far. If you feel like you're being attacked personally, inform the person that it is time to stop. When disrespecting someone in roleplay, your disrespect must be directed towards the character, not the person themself.
Everyone is responsible for knowing the rules on this page. These rules may change at any time, with or without warning. It is your responsibility to stay up to date.
Pausing roleplay can only be done by a staff member. Calling pause RP will require the name of the staff member pausing it. Abusing paused roleplay will result in a ban for Fail RP.
You are not allowed to use any out of character terms in-game, such as: "Fail RP!", "I'm taking you to support!", or "RDM!", but you may hint at things by saying "That's against my religion" or "That's against the constitution", "If your mind was a keyboard you would hit x", or "I need to log out of the matrix".
Advertising for other communities is not allowed in any case. If you are caught doing so, you can be permanently banned from our server!
Intentionally impersonating another member or group of the community without consent with malicious intentions is not allowed!
If someone doesn't want to talk to you or feels uncomfortable by your presence, avoid contact with that person. This is a very serious matter and can cause some members to feel unsafe when playing here.
There will inevitably be some examples of loopholes or breaks in the rules somewhere. If you find one such loophole please report it to staff and do not abuse it. Abusing a loophole in the rules can result in a warning or a ban.
Hacking/exploiting is not tolerated in any way, shape, or form. If you suspect someone of hacking/exploiting, do not announce it. Gather as much evidence as possible and inform staff immediately
Duplicating is strictly prohibited! Anyone caught doing it will receive a one week ban and a stat wipe for the first offence. If caught a second time a permanent ban will be issued.
Relogging after death is only acceptable if accepted by those in roleplay with you, if they do not respond then you may seek approval from a staff member. Only if either say yes will you be allowed to relog. If you relog after dying and don't seek Staff approval, regardless of the revive timer, you risk a Ban and a Stat Wipe.
If you are either in Jail or in a Roleplay Situation, and have to disconnect, you need to ask permission from whoever will be affected by your disconnection. That being the player that killed you or EMS (IE: Dead and waiting for Esu, killed by Police), should they say no and you log out anyways, a ban may be placed. If they agree to allow you to leave, you must stay off of the server for at least 2 hours before you may join again, unless you have died outside of a roleplay situation then you only have to wait 1 hour before you may come back. Joining again before this time is up may result in a ban.
If you were killed by police or a civilian for any reason you must ask them if you can log off. The rules above still apply.
In order to get Compensation due to Glitch or Server Fault (IE: Unintentional Restart/Server Crash), you must be able to supply proper evidence of what you lost in the form of a screenshot. The screenshot must have the date, time and ownership. If you feel that the server may crash, or you are at risk of losing stats, type !uptime and it will give you Time/Date. Take a screenshot of it then go to requesting comp with the screenshot and a staff member will have you comped if your screenshot was correctly done.
For compensation due to player-inflicted damage, You will need to go to Requesting Support, there, a Staff Member will decide whether or not you will be compensated. Screenshots are also appreciated, also evidence of fault of the other party is required.
If you are hovering over government property or an active roleplay situation, the police are allowed to warn you to land or wave off. If you fail to do so the police will follow their protocol on how to deal with you (i.e. shooting you down after warnings have been given). If you are flying low or hovering over civ spawn staff can and will delete your air vehicle without warning.
You cannot rob someone while you are in a vehicle exceeding 30 KPH nor can you rob someone in a vehicle unless the vehicle is going under 30 KPH.
You must initiate on the person you are trying to rob by giving them a command stating you are robbing them such as "Put your hands on your head! This is a robbery!". After initiation you must give at least 5 seconds for them to comply to your reasonable commands. If the person you are robbing tries to evade (i.e. driving or running away) then you may shoot the person.
If you or your gang lose eyes on the person/vehicle for more than 20 seconds then you must re-initiate, this means you must attempt to rob them again by initiating again.
To prevent mass robbing you can only rob players once every 10 minutes.
Killing people randomly without roleplay interaction or in a way that is non-compliant with the rules, is considered Random Deathmatching (RDM).
You may kill someone if they either: Do not comply with your demands in a robbery, engaging you in combat, attempt to run you over (unless them running you over is at the fault of yourself or your gang), try to rob you or if they engage your gang members.
Of course, there are scenarios where killing someone is and is not okay that we cannot list, but a staff member will clear it up for you if you ever need it. Use common sense.
You may not be a hitman or contract killer.
It is strictly prohibited to intentionally run over another player, this is classified as Vehicle Death Matching (VDM). In the event you accidently run another player over it’s prohibited to attempt to rob, kill, or do anything else that would cause harm to them. The only exception to this rule is if someone is making it impossible to avoid a situation without running them over (Example: Your vehicle is boxed in from behind and your only option is to drive though the person standing in front of you).
Fail Roleplay is when you act a manner which would not fit a Roleplay scenario or something which would not be possible in real life. You must always attempt to roleplay.
Meta-Gaming is an unintended way of gaining information , IE: Using teamspeak information or someone’s name tag, and then using it against them in game (IE, killing them because they robbed you earlier).
Attempting to rob an officer(s) at a traffic stop is counted as "Fail RP".
Under no circumstances are you allowed to interrupt any major ongoing "Role Play" situation. (I.E. Bank Robberies, Casino Robberies, ETC)
You cannot evade from police by water unless you have a boat, swimming away is not allowed!
You may not “drive” aircraft (planes or helicopters) along roadways without a proper roleplay reason. It will result in the aircraft being deleted and possible further punishments.
You are not allowed to store your vehicle during a police chase or active roleplay when visible and/or within 200 meters distance from Police.
You are not allowed to take a fake hostage.
You are not allowed to use any external communication program like Skype, Discord, Steam Chat, ETC while in-game.
Cop baiting is not allowed! You may not encourage the cops to chase you for whatever reason. (I.E. Waiting at a robbery after it has been complete to kill cops, getting into purposeful traffic collisions, circling cops for long periods of time).
After a robbery is complete, you MUST attempt to evade. If there is no possible way to evade (I.E. police blocking all entrances) then you can either attempt to negotiate your way out OR engage police to attempt to create a path to evade.
When committing crime, your main goal is to complete the crime and to evade the police and to only kill if necessary.
Powergaming is when a player tries to enact roleplay on another player that would for force them to follow along when they don't want to. I.E (Telling a cop you punch out the glass of his cruiser and choke him, or RP'ing with non-ingame items like an EMP or similar). Powergaming will result in a Fail RP ban.
Flying an aircraft into a person, or group of people is punishable by permanent removal from this community if found to be intentional. It is commonly known as "Jihad".
It is required that all users use the same display name every time they play on our servers. This includes on the forums. Should you want to change your display name, you will need to post a name change request on our forums. Any name that is deemed inappropriate, obscene, racist, or trolling can and will be grounds for being kicked and/or banned from the server upon staff discretion.
You may only steal a vehicle if the vehicle is unlocked and has been for 8+ seconds.
You may not steal a vehicle in a green zone.
Trolling with the tow truck will not be tolerated. Doing so will result in a ban for fail rp.
Vehicles in a green zone cannot be towed unless they are blocking vehicle spawns or with owner permission.
Cop cars are not to be towed unless it is for an RP Event or if is cleared by the SD.
The following are vaild reasons to tow a vehicle: The vehicle is obstructing traffic. The vehicle is left abandoned and you have tried to contact the owner via global chat. You are instructed by SD to tow the vehicle.
You may not lift or tow any vehicle with a helicopter unless you have the keys or it is unlocked. The 8 second rule applies when taking unlocked vehicles that don't belong to you.
All aircraft must be on the long range frequency 66.6, this is to allow authorities and other aircraft to communicate with you. The frequency will be used to warn aircraft to land or wave off, if you are not on this frequency or you fail to follow commands you may be shot down. It is strictly prohibited to troll or transmit over this frequency unless you are in a aircraft or trying to communicate with one.
Any green on the map is considered a safe/crime free zone.
In which no major crimes may be committed.
Examples: Weapon Discharge, Brandishing a Firearm, Robbery, Grand Theft Auto, Doing Drugs etc.
Minor offenses will not get you banned (such as: Trespassing, Speeding)
If you commit a minor crime in a green zone, police may enforce the law on you.
Camping the edge of a green zone to rob someone is Fail RP.
If a role play scenario originating outside the green zone enter ones, the green zone rules do NOT apply.
A green zone is not necessarily a “no roleplay” zone, it’s just a safe place for players who are just loading in.
It is not allowed for anyone to hold a specific piece of land on the map under threat of kill on sight (KOS). If you declare terror you will be informed that it is not allowed and if you still continue with your actions of terror you will be banned for Fail RP.
You may only steal items from the gear of a vehicle if you have obeyed the 8 second rule.
All civilians must have an ID on them at all times. If an officer asks you for your ID and you are wanted for an arrestable offense you may run without presenting it; however, if you are not wanted for an arrestable offense you must present your ID and go through with the situation. If you fail to do so you will be banned for Fail RP.
To rob the bank, there must be at least 4 deputies online on the server. To take a hostage, you must have 5 deputies online on the server. To do any of these you must have intentions to have a successful robbery, meaning you may not rob it just to get cops to respond.
There may only be 1 hostage taking at one point in time and a 5 minute cool down period between each hostage taking. However you may rob the bank if there is a hostage situation going on. After robbing the bank if you have had an encounter with the police you must try to actively finish the situation as soon as possible, you may not sit there and wait for more cops to come.
The maximum you can request in monetary value for each hostage is $50,000.
Trolling is not tolerated at all in this community. If you are found to be constantly punished for trolling, you will receive a Permanent Ban. This is a Roleplaying Community. Our standards will not be broken by people who are too immature to the effort into their roleplay.
(I.E. Screaming into your mic like you're a fucking 12 year old).
You are allowed to know: SD Protocol, Jail Times, Ticket Prices, and your right to request a supervisor. If you feel there was a breach in SD protocol, you may request a supervisor.
You are not allowed to take over jail or go into jail with the sole purpose of finding a cop/civilian to take hostage. The only exception to this is if you force a cop to open the control room with no intentions of keeping him hostage. You must get in and get out ASAP. You may break into jail if your gang members have been jailed, however you may only break the members of your gang out. If you get into someones heli that is not your fellow gang member, you can receive a Fail RP ban.
If EMS arrives on scene and your gang member (or friend you are actively playing with) is down, you may RP taking EMS at gunpoint and forcing them to revive your gang member. Once all members of your gang have been revived, you must leave the area. If anyone other than a member of your gang is down, you CANNOT prevent EMS from reviving members of SD first. If EMS fails to RP this, then take it to Requesting Support on Teamspeak or to an EMS supervisor.
You can only play music for a roleplay reason. You may not play music while you are in custody by police or in jail. Music should be played on whisper mode at all times.
It it prohibited to use a soundboard for any reason.
While on the server it is important to remember that roleplaying is more important than reporting someone for miniscule rule breaks. If a player only waits 7 seconds after a car stops to rob them, reporting them should not be your first priority.
At Our Life RPG there is no such thing as a "New Life", this means everything you do sticks with you until stat wipe (which only happen once every three months). But don't worry most places only care about the last two weeks of your history, so this means you won't be screwed over for something that happened a month ago. Having no new life rule means when you die you don't completely die, in the event you are downed and picked back up by EMS you keep all your gear and can continue with your current RP situation however, you must follow Medical Custody rules if EMS decides to take you into Medical Custody. In the event you are downed and not picked up by EMS you will wake up in the hospital and lose anything you were carrying on you when you went down. You will not be given a "new life" and all warrants will still be active.
It is prohibited to possess Sheriff clothing, you can possess Sheriff vests, bags, or weapons. However, this is only if you obtain them via a legitimate RP situation. (EX: Robbing a cop for their gun and vest.)
You may only assist gang members when they are: Actively being shot at, actively being detained and you know they have a warrant, actively being robbed or harmed. In order to partake in activities as a gang, the entire gang must wear the same or similar type of vest. You can also get a custom vest for your entire gang via the store on the website.
Civilians that are not in a gang together but have a roleplay connection with each other are able to assist each other if they are wearing the same easily identifiable clothing and are in close proximity to the initiation of the roleplay. Friends must follow the gang member rules.
Your protocol is what you must follow closely. If you break this rule, you risk disciplinary action from Sheriff command staff.
A 1:1 ratio (SD to CIVS) is strictly enforced, when going online as SD you must ensure you aren't breaking the 1:1 ratio.
Small-time in-game corruption is allowed up to the rank of Sergeant Deputy (so Sergeant Deputy and below), however it's still illegal and if caught will lead to criminal charges and possible termination from the Sheriff Department.
Example: Letting a civilian go because he slipped you some money is okay, however killing someone because you were paid to do so is not okay. It is also prohibited to give out Sheriff items, this is because it ruins the economy by flooding the civilians with cheap weapons and vests.
EMS cannot take sides between civilians and cops. However, if an EMS is subject to a crime, they may report it. Otherwise, EMS cannot report crimes. This being said, EMS are not to be killed for any reason whatsoever. This also means: EMS cannot assist police in a chase unless helping injured police officers going code 1 and following at a distance. EMS cannot own or use a weapon at any point, EMS cannot rob or be robbed, cannot steal vehicles and cannot have vehicles stolen, cannot have crimes committed against, nor can they commit crimes. If someone breaks any of these rules, it might result in a ban. If it is severe enough, it might be a permanent ban!
Your protocol is what you must follow closely. If you break this rule, you risk disciplinary action from EMS command staff.
Once you have been revived by EMS, EMS must tell you vocally whether you are in medical custody or if you are free to go. EMS can put into medical custody to evaluate your health or if your safety is at risk (Example: You are a police officer and have been downed by a gang and said gang is still in very close proximity actively engaging police officers). EMS can only transport you to the hospital if you have additional injuries, or if you were placed into medical custody because your safety was at risk. In addition, you may also be transferred to the custody of the ECSO and must comply with the EMS. Failing to follow this rules will lead to punishment.
Every time a player receives a ban from our services they will receive 10 warning points on the forums. Points will become inactive once one month passes, once a player reaches 30 active warning points they will receive a one week ban. In the event a player gathers over 100 inactive warning points in a three-month period they will be considered for a one month to permanent ban by senior staff. You can view your active warning points by viewing your profile on the website, if you need to see your inactive points please contact a member of senior staff to get a list.
Rules originally based off the ArmA 2 rules made by IML, CP3088, and TheGamingChief. Which were then revised by binkythehippy, Llama, and Luke Shaw. And revised again for ArmA 3 by TheGamingChief, binkythehippy, Animals, Goaty, Druxus, Kyle Smith, Matt H, and Cinematics.
